Rate limits
The Tentary API counts points, not calls. Reading is cheap, reports and uploads cost more.

Limits
| Limit | Points |
|---|---|
| Per account and minute | 300 |
| Per account and day | 10,000 |
| Per API key and minute | 120 |
The limits per account apply to all keys and all connected AI apps together.
What a call costs
| Call | Points |
|---|---|
| Read | 1 |
| Change | 3 |
| Action that needs a confirmation | 5 |
Report (revenue, subscriptions, visits), customer search with paid_only or file upload (POST /v1/files) | 10 |
Calls at the same time
One account can run at most 8 calls at the same time. Of them, at most 2 can be reports, customer searches with paid_only or file uploads. Further calls get the status 429 with the code busy and a Retry-After header.
Limits for single actions
Some actions have their own limits on top:
- Test emails: 10 per hour and 30 per day.
- Feedback: 10 per day.
- Confirmations: at most 50 requests per account and day.
When you reach a limit
The API answers with the status 429 and the code rate_limited. The Retry-After header gives the seconds to wait. The message is:
Rate limit reached. Wait N seconds, or ask for fewer items per call.
Every call costs at least 1 point, also when Tentary refuses it: for example because of an unknown parameter, a body that does not match the schema, a body over 1 MB or a limit. A call refused by the per-minute or per-day limit costs only this 1 point. A call refused later, for example by the test email limit or by a check of the values, counts its full points.
After a 429, wait the Retry-After seconds. Do not retry at once in a loop: each refused call also costs 1 point.
Tip: For lists, get more items per page with
limitinstead of many small pages. See Pagination.
