# Grant access to a product manually

> How to give someone access to a product without a purchase through Tentary, and how to revoke it again if needed.

Did someone buy from you elsewhere, or should they get a product as a gift? Then unlock access on the customer page, without an order and without an invoice.

## Grant access

1. Open the person's customer page under [**Customers**](https://app.tentary.com/customers) in the menu. If they do not exist yet, create them with **Single customer** via [Import customers](https://tentary.com/en/help/import-customers/).
2. Under **Access**, click **Add access to a product**.
3. Choose the product under **Product**.
4. Under **Reason**, choose why the person gets access: **Purchased elsewhere**, **Complimentary access**, **Migration** or **Manual access**. This is a note for you.
5. Tick **Send access email** if the person should receive an email with their access link right away.
6. Click **Grant access**.

The person gets access immediately and without a time limit. An access duration set in the product does not apply here. For courses with drip lessons, the days count from the date access was granted.

> **Note:** Granting access manually creates no order, no revenue and no invoice. That is why the person does not appear under **Sales**.

## Keep track of granted access

The **Access** section of the customer page lists every product you unlocked, with the **Reason**, the date under **Granted** and the status of the **Access email**, for example **Sent** or **Not sent**.

The menu with the three dots next to an access gives you two options:

- **Send access email:** Sends the email with the access link, for example if you left it out when granting access.
- **Revoke:** Takes the access away again. Progress is kept, and you can grant access again later.

Access that the person bought cannot be revoked here. It belongs to the order.

## Many people at once

To give many people access at the same time, for example when moving from another platform, use the import. There you can also enter the original purchase date. See [Import customers](https://tentary.com/en/help/import-customers/).

## FAQ

### Why can't I grant access?

If the person is [deactivated](https://tentary.com/en/help/manage-customers/#deactivate-imported-customers), reactivate them first with **Reactivate**. If they already bought the product, they need no extra access. Also, the product selection only lists products that are live.

### Does a person with granted access count towards my limit?

Only if you imported them and they have never bought from you. See [Import customers](https://tentary.com/en/help/import-customers/#active-external-customers-how-your-limit-works).
